Well, its been months. . .not much has happened. Ok, it has, I just haven't been around much.

Last post I wrote about a trend in my reading-- basically I focus on one particular author. Well, I've spotted another trend-- I have a vampire fetish. I've been reading tons of vampire novels-- Sookie Stackhouse, Anita Blake, Undead, Blood Ties, Dark, Dark Hunter. . .and tons more. My favorite being the Sookie Stackhouse series, which btw, has been turned into a TV series airing on HBO. I'm not sure what all this means, but I'm having a bitching time reading about vampires.

I wish I could blog well. Truth is I just don't have much to say. My husband says I just don't how to express it. . .either way, not much comes from me. I remember when my mother & I went on a trip throughout Europe we kept a journal, and one night we were writing and I finished in about a min & my mom asked how I could summarize our day in a min. I told her I didn't know-- still don't know. Needless to say, my journal wasn't long. (I really need to bust it out again and read it--such a wonderful trip.)

Anyway, a great blog is The Book Bitches. They have tons to say and not all of it is about books.

New Trend

I think I've started a new trend for myself . . . author of the year. Last year I started reading MaryJanice Davidson and loved her work so much, that I basically went out and bought all the novels of hers that I could find and read them. This years winner seems to be Jennifer Crusie.

I've read 5 of her novels so far: Anyone But You, Bet Me, Charlie All Night, Crazy For You, Don't Look Down (abridged audio), Fast Women, What the Lady Wants . So, far Bet Me is my favorite. . .I've listened to the audio 3 times so far this year. I still have about 5 more books to go, plus another 5 that I need to buy. My library is already overflowing. Hell, just today I bought Manhunting-- I couldn't resist-- $12 hardback at Target.

I also can't wait to read Housekeeping vs Dirt by Nick Hornby. I've been looking for that book at my local bookstore for so long I didn't think they'd ever stock it. Anyhoo, its the 'sequel' to The Polysyllabic Spree, and like it is the collection of articles that he wrote for Believer magazine.

Hopefully soon I'll be able to update my book blog and review all that I've read and listened to so far. Till then damn the man, save the Empire. . . .

New Favorite Author

I've been meaning to blog for a few days now. . .been to damn busy. I know "excuses" but truely. . .I've been busy. I'm working on a database of all of my books. Now if you know me, you know I have a *lot* of books. I've been working on it since Friday night and still have not finished it. I'm almost finished. . .thankfully. Then I'll compile my music, DVDs and my husband's comics. . .I don't think it'll ever end.

I've found a new favorite writer. . .Mary Janice Davidson. For years I would read nothing but classics. Then some of my friends, and my husband, told me I had to read some modern writers. That's how I came to read the Harry Potter series (Goddess forbid-- I now actually like something the public likes) and the Anita Blake vampire series. I was also told that the Undead series my Mary Janice Davison was good to. . . but I was hesitant to try it. (its not personal--I'm hesitant about trying anything.)

When xmas came around my office did Kris Kringle. I decided to add her works to my list of things to get. If I were to get it and it sucked, it wouldn't matter since I didn't pay anything for it. (sad-- I know) I was really happy when one day I received Undead and Unemployed. This was the 2nd in the series so, of course, I had to get the 1st one Undead and Unwed. I can't tell you how awesome this series is!! I have never laughed so hard! Mrs Davidson is such an awesome writer! Her wit is just incredible.

After reading the Undead series I just *had* to read more of her. She has a werewolf series out ( Derick's Bane) and a Royal Series (The Royal Treatment and The Royal Pain) I haven't read these yet, but they're next on my list. The great thing about her is that she's so personable. She has her own yahoo group,which she participates in, and her own blog (the link to her blog is in my link section). I reccommend her works if you're looking for a book that is not only good, but laugh your ass off funny. . .I promise you won't be disappointed.
